What did I learn from my Jewelry Expert Student What? Yes, Jewelry Expert. And what’s that got to do with it?
I’ll tell you more…
Focus on Dancing
Audio in Spanish

One day, while preparing some bookmarks to give away (Special Bookmarks for “SHINE’), I found myself in a situation that taught me a valuable lesson about focus. And of course, I automatically related it to dancing.
These bookmarks were very different, made with beads and elastic, and it had taken me quite some time to create each one.
They were all ready, beautiful, and unique, but suddenly, I opened the box on a trip, and they were all tangled up. No, imagine my face when I saw them tangled, I was in the middle of a milonga after a class, with people talking to me, ready to sign my books and give away the bookmarks, they were there like a tangle of threads impossible to separate.
.

.
I sat, breathing, trying to untangle one by one, but it seemed that each attempt only made things worse. Stress began to take hold of me.
How was I going to give away these bookmarks if I couldn’t free them from the chaos they were trapped in?
Just as I was about to cut the elastics and give up, one of my students, a jewelry expert, came up to me and said, “I’ll help you.”
Calmly and confidently, she added: “You must focus and follow just one. That’s how you’ll solve the tangle.
His advice was revealing. Instead of trying to solve everything at once, I focused on a single thread. Little by little, with patience and determination, each bookmark was freed from the tangle. I learned that by focusing on just one problem at a time, we can unravel even the most complicated tangles.
The Moral of Focus
So the moral: solving one problem at a time allows us to untangle more complex situations more easily. By putting more focus in one direction without losing the thread, we achieve more optimal and efficient results.
This is not to say that we can never focus on more than 1 thing. I sometimes do it heh!!!…. then you will see which way has better results.
In life and tango, it is common to encounter situations that overwhelm us. It can be a dance step that doesn’t work, a choreography that seems impossible, or even personal challenges that overwhelm us. The key is to stay focused.
Instead of trying to solve everything at once, it is more effective to concentrate on one aspect at a time, devote our full attention and effort to it, and then move on to the next.
“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on the things we desire, not the things we fear.” – Brian Tracy.
Tips for Improving Focus
Prioritize your tasks: Identify what is most important and focus on that before moving on to the next task.
Eliminate distractions: Turn off mobile notifications and create an interruption-free workspace.
Take regular breaks: The Pomodoro method, which suggests working in 25-minute intervals with short breaks, can improve concentration.
Practice meditation or mindfulness: These techniques help train the mind to keep attention in the present. You can start with a 5-minute audio (like this one).
Set clear goals: Define specific and achievable goals to keep you focused. Then go for more.
The Wisdom of Tango
This lesson applies not only to everyday problems but also to our tango practice.
Many times we want to learn all the embellishments and steps at once, but this can lead to feeling overwhelmed and unmotivated.
Instead, we can focus on one specific Adorno, perfect it, and then move on to the next. This way, our progress will be more effective and we will notice more significant improvements.
Focus is a powerful tool. It allows us to approach challenges with clarity and efficiency and helps us stay focused on our goals.
Learning to focus on one task at a time will not only help us solve problems more quickly, but it will also bring us a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
So the next time you find yourself entangled in your challenges, remember my jewelry student’s lesson. Take a breath, pick one problem at a time, and focus on untangling it with patience and determination.
You will see how, little by little, chaos transforms into order and the results begin to shine.
And so… do you remember a story that has marked you?
